Artist Statement
“The description is not the described” as stated by Jiddu Krishnamurti in explaining the relationship between the map and the territory. He further explained, “It is like a man who is hungry. Any amount of description of the right kind of food will never satisfy him. He is hungry, he wants food”.
One can study a map, and understand the layout of the land, but the map will only ever signify the geography of what is there. It will only allow you to experience the territory in your mind.
In this series of work, there are stories of different territories, the only description apart from their form, are the titles.
