Riccardo Nannini a.k.a. ‘Cane’, born in Italy in 1980, is a lowbrow artist based in Barcelona, Spain. His wall murals and sticker art can be found peppered throughout his home-town like a comical yet provocative trail left behind by extra-terrestrial visitors. Nannini entered the art scene in 2014 where he first began producing studio work outside of the urban arena.

Nannini’s work is quirky, forward and although the purpose of the art is to entertain rather than intellectualise, it still has something to say. The artist makes sure his audience listens too with lively and well-balanced scenes unfurling in his landscapes that are laced with social and political innuendo.

Nannini’s early work was characterized by a strong punk aesthetic, however his contemporary work reassesses this narrative with elaborate and confident artistry. Among his influencers, Nannini credits Italian comic masters Andrea Pazienza and Benito Jacovitti, through to Flemish painters Bosch and Bruegel the Elder, and subscribes to the modern pop-surrealist scene. Nannini has featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Spain, Italy, Paris and Australia.
