ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
With artistic integrity and intuition at the fore, hearing-impaired artist Angie Goto’s practice is inherently influenced by a congenital hearing difficulty. A staunch advocate for the hearing-impaired community, art provides Angie with a vehicle to explore colour and imagery from this unique perspective. With a distinctive figurative interpretation of her surroundings, her vibrant abstractions are delicate, proportionally honed and burgeoning in sensory detail.
Angie’s artistic practice spans ceramics, glassware, clothing, and film, with painting as her primary focus. Her work is both visually striking and intellectually stimulating. She studied Fine Art and Graphic Design in Newcastle and Sydney and has achieved significant success, with numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally and finalist positions in prestigious art prizes. Alongside her artistic career, Angie works part-time as an Artist Educator, focusing on special projects for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. She also freelances at several renowned art institutions.
