Angie Goto – Emancipation
Hosted By 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace
May 29th - June 26th, 2021
Angie states, ‘These works are a result of me participating in life drawing classes around Sydney during the Covid lockdown. I did this to escape being isolated during a period I found hard to deal with the forced isolation as a Deaf person until restrictions eased.
Life drawing to me is like meditation and I can equate this feeling to how hearing people find solace from listening to music. The collection of works are based on my feelings of emancipation from this forced solitude. The resulting work is a celebration of my freedom to mingle again in society, especially in an environment I am most comfortable in…art.’
