ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Hungarian artist Máté Orr creates imaginative worlds where playful creatures and unsettling emotions coexist. Through animal characters and invented beings, he explores enduring aspects of human psychology, inviting viewers to confront darker feelings through whimsical imagery. Combining traditional oil painting with contemporary vector graphics, Orr contrasts flat, silhouette-like forms with realistic details shaped by light and shadow. His compositions draw on classical European art, surrealism and modern graphic design, referencing artists such as Magritte and David Hockney. By blending the historical with the contemporary, the abstract with the realistic, Orr develops a distinctive visual language that challenges perception and conventional storytelling.
