Born in Surakarta, Indonesia, in 1991, Dhawa Rezkyna explores the intersection of identity, technology, and the human relationship with nature. After studying Industrial Machinery at vocational school, he pursued Fine Arts at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Surakarta, where he developed a practice that bridges technical precision with conceptual inquiry.

Rezkyna’s multidisciplinary practice examines contemporary social issues and the evolving psychology of identity in an increasingly digital world. Drawing on his background in industrial machinery, he investigates the relationship between humans, technology, and the manufactured objects that shape modern life.

Central to his work is the idea that individuals continually construct new identities, both in the physical world and through digital platforms. His distinctive figures and symbolic objects often appear encased in glossy plastic or porcelain-like surfaces, serving as metaphors for the carefully curated personas that conceal emotion and vulnerability beneath polished exteriors.

Blending digitally inspired aesthetics with everyday objects, Rezkyna creates surreal, dreamlike worlds where reality and the virtual realm seamlessly converge. His paintings encourage viewers to reflect on how technology influences perception, reshapes identity, and alters humanity’s connection to the natural world.

Today, Rezkyna’s work is recognised for its striking visual language and thoughtful exploration of contemporary life, positioning him among a new generation of Indonesian artists examining the complexities of modern existence.
