German Jauregui is a Colombian Australian artist with a professional background in Industrial and Furniture Design. With an award-winning design career spanning over twenty years, including acknowledgement from the prestigious Golden A’design Award in Italy, German is now exploring the bounds of his creativity through sculpture.
Starting from the basics as a wood worker in the Sturt School of Design placed him in good stead to develop his artistry in what Jauregui terms “random geometry”.
“During the last decade I have been exploring the different elements and angles of design in Australia, and understanding with my hands, the noble material of wood.”
This understanding developed into a curiosity for other malleable materials, and an experimentation with how aluminium can be manipulated and contorted to form alluring and masterful form. German Jauregui is representative of Australian contemporary sculptor, where accomplished craftmanship and innovative creativity deliver provocative art that promises to visually entertain.
Jauregui won the Good Design selection award in Australia in 2017 and is a recipient of the prestigious Lapiz de Acero. “Steel Pencil” award, Colombia.
