THREESOME GROUP SHOW
The themes of my work largely centre around what I find most captivating to paint; people but since moving out of London and to the English countryside that theme has broadened to the subject of life, death and all between.
Observations of death in my new found bucolic surroundings are unavoidable but it doesn’t feel maudlin. Nature is celebrated and death often applauded.
Afterparty is a triptych conveying the sentiment that life continues after death and in some cases because of it.
Skulls to me have always appeared to have their own expressions and lately have become a point of interest for painting.
Setting them against the stark white background enables me to highlight the silhouette and focus on he simple subjects surrounding us that perhaps convey most about our environment and human nature.
Death can only be observed by the living and skulls can be seen as a little present left behind by the deceased.
