Originally from Perth, Samantha is a still life artist who studied Art Education at Edith Cowan University and worked for 16 years as a high school Art Teacher in a number of government and private schools. In 2003 she held her first solo exhibition of landscape paintings.

Samantha won the Painting Prize and Popular Choice Award in the 2015 Great Southern Art Award. In 2014 she won the Popular Choice Award, together with Highly Commended. She was recently named as a Finalist in the 2016 Albany Art Prize.

BIOGRAPHY

Samantha Dennison’s still life oil paintings are concerned with community, seasonality and the changes in light as the year progresses. The objects she paints are collected from her daily surroundings; they reflect and narrate her life in the regional town of Albany, WA.

Originally from Perth, Samantha studied Art Education at Edith Cowan University and worked for 16 years as a high school Art Teacher in a number of government and private schools. In 2003 she held her first solo exhibition of landscape paintings.

Samantha won the Painting Prize and Popular Choice Award in the 2015 Great Southern Art Award. In 2014 she won the Popular Choice Award, together with Highly Commended. She was recently named as a Finalist in the 2016 Albany Art Prize.
