Michela Buttignol was born in 1981 and raised in Sacile, a small town in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. After completing high school, she moved to Milan to attend IED Milano and graduated with a degree in illustration in 2003. Michela now lives in Brooklyn.
Michela Buttignol is a New York-based freelance illustrator whose technological fortitude has enabled her to branch across a variety of mediums. Her educational background include a degree in illustration and a Master in animation; she also recently attended the summer intensive studies program at Parsons The New School for Design in New York.
In 2011, she moved to New York to become a freelance illustrator, and since has been featured in The New York Times, American Illustration 31, 3X3 Annual N.10, Jamie magazine, Illustration Age, Brain Pickings and an assortment of digital and print publications from around the world.
