ARTIST’S STATEMENT

‘As an artist, the practice of creation, the connection with subject and medium is just as important as the result. Throughout my artistic career, I have realised that achieving ‘clarity’ is a far more complicated ambition than it appears; reality and memory are inextricably merged. This metamorphosis has evolved into a style I label ‘fragmatism’. Like our memories, images float, dissolve and mutate into each other. They are a hybrid of reality and experience.
My ambition is to create beautiful harmonies via the paintbrush, and in doing so, attain a greater understanding of my subject matter, and my relationship to it.’
