Xenia is a German artist who takes a firm stance on political and social issues. That's why she deliberately turned away from painting for the purpose of decoration. The primary subject of her art is the human race in its social environment. She has been working within the art world for almost 20 years; first as an art student at Züricher Kunstschule (HGK), Switzerland, then as a painter a sculptor. Main topics of her art are racial disrimination as shown in her series of paintings "White Strangers" , environmental issues as in her sculptures "The Epigonians" and the effects of globalisation in her famous "Global Citizen Project" with the former Soviet leader Michael Gorbachev. Xenia Marita Riebe is a guest artist at 19 KAREN Contemporary Artspace.
