Will Duncan is a promising young artist from the Far North Coast who has been involved in group shows such as ‘Lightmares’ and ‘Mood Swings’ at 19 Karen. He completed his Fine Arts Degree at Southern Cross University. Will works from his home in Byron Bay where he uses pencils, acrylic paint, spray paint, ink liners, wood, lacquer, glue, paper, cigarettes and old stuff he finds at junk shops to create his original and idiosyncratic works. His first solo show here at 19 KAREN ‘Wild West’ was a collection of bohemian and quirky works combining all the visual motifs of a western and transforming them into a vivid presence. Will’s Wild West was a caricature of a lonely cowboy, unruly and unshaven; looking over the works the audience begins to learn this loner’s traits, his desires and what type of cigarette he smokes.
