Since studying a Bachelor of Creative Industries at Queensland University of Technology, Ryan Preece has for the last few years been exhibiting professionally in Australia and the U.S.A. The subject matter of his art is consistently suggestive of the past, and images relating to the 19th and early 20th centuries are often used in reference to early Australian art. His work is usually subjective and poetic, romantic and dark. The explorations of personal, cultural and social identity and the workings of the human condition are the themes always present within his work. Ryan’s work has appeared in Australian Art Collector, Brisbane Magazine, Style Magazine, and various other publications. He currently lives and works from his studio in Brisbane.
