Rebecca Murphy
Biography | Artwork

Named one of the top 100 most exciting female illustrators in the world by Curvy magazine, Sydney-based artist Rebecca Murphy creates works that have been described as a little romantic, floral and syrupy but also a bit gory, bloody and creeped out. Preferring to work in acrylics and archival ink on paper, wood, and canvas, her influences vary from Art Nouveau and Ukiyo-e woodblock prints to Pop Surrealism. Rebecca's works have been featured in publications such as Happenstance Magazine, Göoo Magazine, Cleo Australia, and the 2010 SemiPermanent bi-annual, appeared in a feature interview on ABC2, are exhibited regularly in galleries nationwide, and reside in private collections internationally. She has exhibited in shows at China Heights (Syd), Gallery 696 (Melb) and No Vacancy (Melb), and was a Finalist at the Waverley Art Prize, NSW and smARTarts, NSW. Rebecca is represented by 19 KAREN Contemporary Artspace, and is a part of the Just Another Collective.  Rebecca made her international exhibiting debut in 2010, at the Feminality show, as part of Art Basel in Miami, Florida.
