Rebecca Bird
I graduated from Adelaide Centre for the Arts in 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in Visual Arts and Applied Design, majoring in contemporary jewellery and painting. I also studied life drawing in 2000 at Adelaide Central School of Art.
Along with my jewellery I am also an avid painter focusing on tradition applications with a modern twist in concepts. My influences are Art Nouveau and Celtic styles. My work incorporates the old and the new with fresh and funky designs. Art has always been a huge part of my life, it's my main passion.
In 2004 I entered my first competition exhibition at the Tea Tree Gully Council Painting and Ceramics show and received third prize and my first sale from an exhibition. Also in 2004 I had three pieces of jewellery placed in the Jam Factory Atrium with a number of other students focusing on non-metals. And in 2006 My Graduating exhibition "The Road Less Travelled" received exciting reviews for the 17 featured graduates.

2007 allowed me to curate an exhibition for the Adelaide Fringe at the Adelaide Central YHA, "The Lime and The Coconut" featured myself an four other Graduates exhibiting for the first time since finishing our studies.
2007 also allowed me to be apart of a new contemporary Jewellery Collective called 'Metal Circus'. I am one of 11 Jewellers that will be holding exhibitions at least once a year. The collective will be show casing hade-crafted jewellery with a variety of individual styles. The most recent Exhibition was "Essence".
In 2008 I exhibited in 'Essence' as part of Metal Circus and part of the JMGA Annual Jewellery show. And later 'Indulge' with 4 other painters as part of the Fringe Festival.
I have two daughters born in 2007 and 2009; both bring an enormous amount of joy into my life. Finding the time as a full time mum and an Artist is challenging but well worth the rewards both give me.
