Hailing from Barcelona, Monique van Steen specialises in the pop art style paintings of close-up female faces. Monique’s ‘beauties’ as she has coined them are sensual yet reserved, flirty yet aloof - their eyes stare back at the viewer questioning your world. Monique uses a dripping technique that allows her create the loose, fluid lines that are so signature to her art. She has been involved in many solo and group shows within Spain, the US and Europe and has been interviewed and reviewed in many international publications.
