Jennifer Murray
Jennifer Murray grew up in Northern California and attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Her studies there in both visual arts and social history led her to develop her conceptual, narrative style. Her work explores themes of gender, power, sexuality, and performance, using animals and other “characters” as symbols. Most recently, her work has focused on her experience as a young woman navigating the carnal, hypocritical, seductive culture of New York City alone. She is the recipient of several grants and awards, and lives and works in East Harlem. Jennifer is represented by our New York partner, Porter Contemporary.
