When 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace first opened its’ doors (2008) it was to provide an innovative platform for contemporary art by largely unseen Australian & international artists whose work has been rarely or never exhibited. Many of these artists are now represented and exhibiting by commercial galleries interstate and overseas. It can be said that 19 Karen is a springboard for exceptionally talented emerging artists helping them to launch their careers into this tough and competitive market. The gallery boasts 380m2 floor space (+80m2 stockroom) in a converted warehouse with polished concrete floors, 6 meter high ceiling and high tech lights. It is a welcoming environment for emerging and established art collectors.
