Guy L Warren was born in Lae, Papua New Guinea in 1971, and in 1994 graduated from a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Canberra Institute of the Arts, Australian National University.
Since 1993 he has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas, including shows at Deux Egg Art Gallery, (Japan), Border Art Prize (Gold Coast City Art Gallery, QLD), Spiral Arm Gallery (Canberra, ACT) Umbrella Studio (Townsville, QLD) and Tweed River Regional Art Gallery(NSW), where Guy held a residency in 2001.
Recently, Guy was a Finalist in the Duke Art Prize on the Gold Coast for his latest works on Japanese hybrid cultures. During his stay in Japan, Guy drew upon many observations, particularly the interactions of youth with traditional and contemporary popular culture.
In his latest works Guy uses a process of collecting and composing found and created images, which are re-inscribed through painting to create a poetic fabric, net or matrix.
Guy currently lives and works in Palm Beach, Gold Coast.
