After a well deserved break from his graphic design and printing business in 2002 David Hicks set out on a painting holiday to Portugal. Finally having the time to paint and draw David constructed the forms and ideas of what are now the foundations of his painting style. David’s abstracts are full of strong rich colour and depth from the layering of paint. He likens his paintings an undiscovered archaeological find with the layers of paint covering artefacts and objects.
