Abigael Whittaker

Abigael Whittaker is a Brisbane based artist, working predominately in figurative painting and illustration with an emphasis on opulent textile based details. Her largely autobiographical works use metaphor and allegory to reveal the stories and dreams of human experience. Abigael holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design at the Queensland University of Technology.
 
Abigael has exhibited throughout Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Northern Rivers with her intuitive works that combine her love and knowledge of fashion & textiles with art. Abigael is represented by 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace and will be showcasing her work here in August 2012 in her fourth solo show.

2006 Winner, People's Choice Award - Youth Week Fashion Parade - QUT Kelvin Grove / Designed & Manufactured 4 women's wear outfits and 2 menswear outfits to be presented in a runway show format / A total of 10 designers participated in this event.
2004 "Homeshow Project" - Brisbane Convention Centre / Collaborative project with Interior Design students / Designed & manufactured garments to be used in a performance piece to showcase / Interior Design project entrants / Styled & photographed outfits for website
2003 "Echo Project" - Old Parliament House - Gardens Pt, Brisbane / Collaborative project with 2nd year Fashion Design students and Australian designers. Choreographed & performed fashion showcase for industry audience.
2003 Australian Fashion Design Awards - Brisbane City Hall / Designed & manufactured two garments for entry into the awards. Styled & photographed outfits for folio work.
